KINGDRILLING DRILL PIPE DESCRIPTION:
Drill rod (also called drill pipe) is the mechanism that transmits impact force and rotational torque to the down-the-hole hammer and drill bit, while also providing a channel for air flow.
They are mainly used in blast drilling and water well drilling projects. Working with down-the-hole drill pipes and down-the-hole drill bits, it is mainly used in construction projects such as mines, marble quarries or drilling.

FAQ:
1. What is drill pipe?
Drill pipe is a round metal rod made of tool steel that is ground
and polished to tight tolerances. It is usually supplied unhardened
and is therefore easy to machine, making it an ideal product for
making tooling.
2. What are the two main functions of drill pipe?
Torque Transmission: Drill pipe is designed to transmit drilling
torque over long distances, often spanning several miles, from the
rig surface down to the drill bit.
Fluid Circulation: Drill pipe acts as a conduit for drilling fluid
(also known as “drilling mud”), allowing it to flow down from the
surface and back into the wellbore. Drilling fluids are critical
for cooling the drill bit, transporting cuttings to the surface,
and maintaining pressure inside the well.
3. How are drill rods made?
Drill pipe is made by cutting a pin and a thread straight into a
steel pipe, making it a one-piece structure. This technology is
used in the manufacturing of all conventional wireline drill pipes.
4. How do you harden a hardening drill rod?
HEAT TREATMENT Sections smaller than ¼” heat to 1450°-1475°F and hold until heated through. For larger sections, preheat to 1200°F, the raise to 1450°-1500°F to hardening temperature, hold one-half hour per inch of cross section. Quench in oil at 125°-150°F and TEMPER IMMEDIATELY.
